Questions & Answers:
Do you have to have children in the Souderton Area School District to be involved with IVEF?
No. Anyone who has a vested interest in public education and or an interest in ensuring the long term growth and sustainability of this community can and should be involved with the foundation in some capacity.
Does IVEF compete with the Home & School Associations and other School Fundraising Organizations?
IVEF is unique in that it strives to raise significant resources through professional fundraising methods to enable programs, projects and capital improvements which will benefit the entire Souderton Area School District. The Indian Valley Education foundation fully supports the missions and efforts of the school fundraising organizations for the outstanding services they provide to all students.
How does giving to IVEF help minimize the district's need to increase taxes?
As the most basic and reasonable needs continue to exceed the once traditional funding sources (local taxes, state and federal funding) we recognize that alternative funding sources must be considered. While there can never be a guarantee against increased taxes, IVEF works diligently to partner with the community and secure funding though a variety of ways, many of which are tax deductible. For more information as to how you or your business can support the IVEF please visit our DONATIONS page.
Is there someone available to come and speak about what the Foundation Does?
Yes! Please contact our Executive Director, RuthE Potter rpotter@IndianValleyEF.org. She will be glad to speak with you about your interest in our foundation and set up a mutually agreeable time to have a representative from the foundation speak to your group or organization.
Why Should I support IVEF when I already pay Taxes?
The budget cuts that have occurred at both the state and federal level have been extremely difficult for many publicly funded entities and the school districts have learned how to do more with much less. The reality is that we all need to recognize a collective responsibility in the effort to provide all of the children in our community with the best education possible. The IVEF hopes to encourage businesses and individuals in this community to invest more directly and effectively in the students of the Souderton Area School District. By maintaining high standards of excellence, the SASD hopes to build on its recent achievements and meet the challenges of the 21st century to ensure a high return on the community’s investment in education.
How Much of my Donation Goes to Programs vs. Administration?
A small portion (<15%) of donations given to the Foundations for general funding helps to support administrative operations. 100% of donations received in support of specific programs and projects are used in their entirety for that purpose.
Is my donation to IVEF tax deductible or is it like Home & School Association that doesn't qualify?
Yes. Donations to IVEF are tax deductible expenses. Our status as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization enables donors gifts to qualify as a charitable deduction for federal income tax purposes.
